Dear HCCS members:
I am pleased to announce that the HCCS Board of Directors have selected Ms. Wei Guo (郭 唯女士) as the new HCCS principal. Ms Guo has worked for HCCS for many years, first as a teacher and recently as the Dean of Education. Her devotion to Chinese teaching and learning, her ability to lead, and her integrity have won a high reputation among HCCS members and the Chinese community. We feel fortunate that HCCS has Ms. Guo as the new principal. We are confident that HCCS under her leadership will continue to grow as the center of the community and to reach a new level in Chinese teaching and learning.
I like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Jie Zhang (张 捷先生), the HCCS principal for the last two years, for his outstanding service to HCCS. The student enrollment has grown by 20% under his watch. We have added 5 more Chinese classes and about 10 more enrichment classes while facing unprecedent classroom shortages due to HCC renovation. The school management has become more open and orderly. The fiscal planning and budget control have strictly followed the new guidelines. The HCCS Chinese New Year celebration and other major activities have become a major seasonal attraction among the Chinese community and friends.
The new principal will take office on August 1, 2009, for a two year term and renewable to a total of six years. Mr. Zhang and the current EC team will continue to conduct normal school business until July 31, 2009. Ms. Guo will start to form the new EC team and prepare for the transition. Please help her and join the team of volunteers to make HCCS an even better place.Have a great summer!
