On November 9, 2024, Howard Chinese School successfully held a grand autumn indoor cultural and sports performance at SPORTS WORLD. The event was funded by the Youth Engagement Program of the Harvey County Government, and jointly organized by the Harvey Chinese School Board of Directors, School Committee and PTA, attracting nearly 300 people from different communities to participate enthusiastically. The event aims to promote students' physical and mental health, enhance the cohesion of the school through the combination of sports and culture, and provide students with a stage to showcase their personal talents and teamwork spirit. The principal of Harvey Chinese School announced the start of the event. Li Ning, chairman of the Chinese School, Dr. Clarence Lam, a senator from Maryland, Dr. Chao Wu, a member of the Maryland State Assembly, and Dr. Yun Lu, a member of the Howard County Board of Education, presented the 2024 Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) to 22 students and volunteers of Harvey Chinese School. This award was established in 2003 to recognize those who have positively impacted the community through service and inspired others to take action. Since 2019, Harvey Chinese School has been proud to sponsor the Presidential Volunteer Service Award to recognize outstanding community service by students and parents in the Harvey Chinese School community. We are grateful to these outstanding individuals for being part of our community, and their contributions have had a profound impact on the community, inspiring more people to take positive and meaningful actions.
This cultural and sports performance combines the two major themes of culture and sports. There are both intense sports competitions and creative art performances. The art performance began with the sound of the American national anthem played by the student orchestra. The students fully demonstrated their talents in singing, instrument playing, dancing, etc., especially the waist drum, Tai Chi and martial arts performances brought by the parents, which won warm applause and cheers from the audience. Through these cultural displays, the students not only expressed their love for Chinese culture, but also further deepened their understanding and inheritance of traditional art.

This autumn indoor cultural and sports performance fully demonstrated the unique charm of Harvey Chinese School in the integration of sports and culture.
