Bilingual Course Introductions
Bilingual Beginner
Bilingual Elementary is a Chinese elementary course for students who have no Chinese knowledge and are younger. The textbook used is the introductory volume of Yangyang Chinese - Dialogue Edition. Based on the teaching content and the age characteristics of the students, this course arouses students' interest in learning Chinese through interesting forms such as games, songs, nursery rhymes and Chinese cultural activities, thereby cultivating their Chinese listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Through this course, students will learn the most basic composition of Chinese characters; read 85 new characters and 30 two/multi-syllable words; say hello, say goodbye, introduce names and genders, ages, and families, describe simple characteristics of people, express quantities, dates and refer to things, etc. After returning home, students can review what they have learned by watching online videos, singing nursery rhymes and doing exercises.
Bilingual Level 1
Bilingual Level 1 is a Chinese elementary course for older students who have studied Bilingual Preparatory Level 1 or have no Chinese proficiency. The textbook used is the first volume of Yangyang Chinese – Dialogue Edition. This course mainly focuses on the content of the text and uses different learning methods such as games, songs and Chinese cultural activities to strengthen students' Chinese listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Through studying this course, students will recognize 100 new characters and 58 two/multi-syllable words; perform 12 dialogues in different roles; read 12 texts and understand and narrate the content of the texts; learn to express gratitude, apologize, express hobbies, describe actions, places, directions, colors, bodies, etc., learn to express time and personal abilities, describe transportation, distance, speed, physical condition, and make comparisons, etc.; students can also introduce themselves in detail.
Bilingual Level 2
Bilingual Level 2 is another Chinese course after Bilingual Level 1. The textbook used is "Yang Yang Chinese - Dialogue Edition Volume 2". Bilingual Intermediate will help students continue to learn Chinese, explore the mystery of the Chinese language, and increase their interest in learning Chinese. This course emphasizes listening, speaking, reading, writing, and daily oral practice at the elementary stage of Chinese; while based on the course materials, this course will introduce some characteristics of Chinese culture, such as Chinese children's poetry, games, music, paintings, traditional stories, traditional festivals, etc. Through studying this course, students can introduce themselves in Chinese, continue to learn 110 new characters and 75 two-syllable words, and make sentences in Chinese. Older students can also write simple essays and stories.
Bilingual Level 3
Bilingual Level 3 is based on the completion of Yangyang Chinese – Dialogue Version Volume 2, and continues to study Yangyang Chinese – Dialogue Version Volume 3. This course is mainly based on the content of the text, and further strengthens students' Chinese listening, speaking, reading and writing abilities through different learning forms such as games, songs, nursery rhymes and Chinese cultural activities. Through studying this course, students will continue to learn 110 new characters and 70 two/multi-syllable words; perform 12 dialogues in different roles; read 12 texts and narrate the content of the texts; learn to express daily life content, such as sports, watching movies, surfing the Internet, exams and other topics. At the same time, through TV programs introducing Chinese culture, games and other activities to help students apply Chinese in real life. Through the study of Bilingual Level 3, students will be comprehensively improved in listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating Chinese.
