Auxiliary Program Introduction
High School Mathematics Competition Beginner Class
The High School Mathematics Competition Preliminary Class is primarily designed for high school students with a strong interest and outstanding ability in mathematics. Middle school students enrolled in the Harvey County Public Schools System's Accelerated Math Program may also choose to enroll based on their individual circumstances. Students must have completed at least Algebra I and Geometry courses and be currently enrolled in Algebra II. The course content will cover advanced topics such as trigonometric functions and complex numbers, exceeding the depth and breadth of the regular high school mathematics curriculum.
Unlike regular high school courses that emphasize basic knowledge, this course focuses on developing students' mathematical problem-solving and higher-order thinking skills. Each teaching unit is relatively independent with weak connections between them; therefore, students can selectively skip units containing unfamiliar material without affecting their subsequent learning.

The Chinese school has limited space, but I hope students will prepare a good yoga mat, a yoga strap and one or two yoga blocks, wear loose yoga clothes, and preferably not eat anything an hour before class.
My classes primarily use Vinyasa flow yoga, which involves a certain level of intensity and flexibility. While the Chinese school has limited space, I encourage students to bring a good yoga mat, a yoga strap, and one or two yoga blocks. Please wear loose-fitting yoga clothing and ideally, avoid eating for an hour before class.
AMC 8 (American Mathematics Competition 8)
Our junior high school math competition class welcomes all students who are curious and interested in math competitions, especially the AMC series. As the only AMC competition class in our school, we welcome both beginners with no AMC experience and seasoned veterans, regardless of whether they are interested in AMC 8 or AMC 10. Classroom teaching focuses on discussing past competition problems, supplemented by explanations of relevant mathematical concepts and methods. We encourage interaction and exchange between teachers and students, and among students themselves, sharing problem-solving strategies and methods. No homework is assigned after class, but students are strongly encouraged to review the discussions, especially beginners who are encouraged to actively review or research new concepts and methods related to the class discussions to keep up with the course progress. Seasoned students are also encouraged to actively prepare for class discussions and questions, especially regarding different solutions to past competition problems discussed in class. Through class discussions, students will not only learn different problem-solving approaches but also gain experience in classroom presentations and improve their ability to effectively express their ideas. Of course, if you only consider this course as a math tutoring class, you may find it quite challenging.
